Day 30: What is your vision for health in your community?
I want to help build a community of empowered individuals living with vitality. I believe it is possible to live with the same zest and energy for life whether you are a child, adult, or senior. Maintaining vitality throughout life relies on 3 key pillars.

These pillars are:
  • Consistent chiropractic care
  • Whole food nutrition
  • Daily movement

Using these 3 aspects of wellness as a guide helps up make decisions to move toward wellness and the best version of ourselves. It is important to hold others in our community accountable and empower them to take control and make decisions that are best for their wellness journey.

I would like to thank you for joining me for the past 30 days. This video series has been a learning process for me and I hope it has been for you as well. I have enjoyed introducing myself to the community and educating you about chiropractic. If I can answer any other questions please comment below or email me at info@revivebalance.com. Thank you again for joining me! Stay tuned for weekly videos featuring my favorite stretches, exercises, recipes, and more!

#GETadjusted movement: Day 28

Day 28: Why should children experience chiropractic care?
Children are excellent candidates for chiropractic care! As a child develops so does his nervous system. It is essential to get adjusted to promote strong and healthy development of the nervous system. The nervous system is the master controller of the body, therefore having a healthy nervous system allows the brain to effectively communicate with the body and all of its cells, tissues, and organs. This builds a strong immune system and can also help with conditions such as ear infections, colic, and digestive issues. Adjustments also help with the structural development of the spinal curves to prevent scoliosis and postural abnormalities.

Day 27: What is your favorite thing about being a chiropractor?
My favorite thing about being a chiropractor is seeing my patients get their lives back. Whether it is being able to pick up their children or grandchildren without pain or completing a triathlon, it is exciting to see my patients take control of their lives and their healthcare. Chiropractic care, whole food nutrition, and daily movement are essential for building an able body. I am honored to be part of so many individuals’ lives and assist them in living a wellness centered life.

Day 26: What do you do to overcome a challenge?
When faced with a challenge, I go back to my mantra. Repeating my mantra empowers me and gives me the confidence I need to surpass external pressure and accomplish my goals. Positive internal coaching has been key for me in overcoming stress and anxiety in challenging situations. Being able to ground myself and breathe has helped me take on seemingly insurmountable situations.

I would like to hear what you do to overcome a challenge, so please comment below if you would like to share. Thanks for watching. See  you guys tomorrow!

I am most excited about continuing my momentum into the new year. 2015 has been an excellent year and I look forward to making more progress in 2016. I am excited about the prospect of the future and expanding my reach through chiropractic care to as many people as possible. I look forward to continuing to work with the coaches and athletes of Saddleback Crossfit and to continue networking with colleagues through the Clinical Athlete network. I am fortunate to be surrounded by supportive and encouraging mentors and am excited to continue to work with them to grow as a person and clinician.

Day 24: What makes your practice unique?
My practice is unique because of my knowledge and experience competing as an athlete and treating athletes. I have a unique understanding of the body, how it moves, and how it can be trained. Everyone with a body is an athlete. This is why my knowledge base applies to all of my patients. Our bodies are designed to move, which is why I stress the importance of daily movement. It doesn’t matter what you enjoy as your daily movement, just stick with it! I use my athletic background combined with my education to take a full body approach to each individual. This helps my athletes (aka my patients) recovery more quickly and get back to moving and doing the things they love.

Comment below with any thoughts or questions for me. I hope to see you at the office soon so you can experience my unique approach to treatment first hand. Thanks for watching. See you guys tomorrow!

#getadjusted Movement: Day 23

Day 23: What are 3 tips to help someone beginning their health journey?
The key to starting is to implement small changes. Making small changes keeps you from getting overwhelmed and allows the changes to be sustainable. The biggest thing to remember when beginning your health journey is that the changes you make constitute a life style change, not a temporary change. This is why it is so important to chunk down your goals and make smaller manageable changes. Here are my top 3 sustainable changes to make:

  1. Practice breathing for 5 minutes every day. This will not only help improve your breathing pattern and core stability but will also act as a progression into meditation to help with stress reduction.
  2. For every hour you sit take a minimum 5 minute break. Take a walk, stretch, jump around. Do something!
  3. Replace one packaged food with a fresh vegetable. If you stick with switching out one packaged food for a fresh one every week eventually you will be eating no/significantly less packaged food without even realizing it. The process does not have to be painful or all or nothing. Make it enjoyable and sustainable!

If you have a strategy you like to use to stay on track comment below. I love hearing new ideas! Thanks for watching. See you tomorrow!

Day 22: What does the future of chiropractic look like?
More and more people are turning to alternative holistic methods of healing. I believe it is my responsibility to continue to be an educator and expose as many people as possible to chiropractic care. I think the idea of holistic methods of healing is expanding, which is a positive movement in support of my goal of affecting as many people as possible through chiropractic care and a wellness centered lifestyle.

Day 21: What is your 10 year vision for your chiropractic practice?
My goal in practice 10 years from now is to continue to serve my community as a health advocate through chiropractic treatment and education about whole food nutrition, stress reduction, and functional movement. I plan to continue to broaden my education so I may serve my patients to the best of my ability and the available research. My goal is to continue to expand my practice and expose as many individuals in my community as possible to a wellness centered lifestyle.

Day 20: What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memories were those spent with my competitive synchronized swim team. I swam with the same core group of girls for almost 10 years. These girls became my family. We pushed each other to be better in and out of the pool. Participating in an organized team sport taught me discipline, dedication, and team work. Training and competing on an athletic team helps build skills that also translate to valuable life skills. This team helped me build confidence in myself, to work hard toward a goal, and to persevere. I am thankful for the many lessons I learned in the pool that transferred to my life outside of the pool. I built a strong foundation and lifelong friendships while learning the importance of staying active and using proper nutrition to fuel my activity. It didn’t hurt that we won a few medals as well!!

I would like to hear about your favorite childhood memory, so comment below if you would like to share with me. Thanks for watching. See you guys tomorrow!
